If you have been working on your PC for quite a time now and you are just so confident that all your important files are just stored in your hard drive and can be accessible anytime, you may want to think again.

One of the most ignored responsibilities of most computer users is having a back up of their files and if you have tons of important files and documents now stored in your PC, you may want to think about having a backup of your important files.

Losing irretrievable data from your PC can be frustrating indeed, but it can be avoided. You can copy files to DVD and you will never again worry about not being able to retrieve your office files, or your transaction receipts or even your favorite games, music and movies.

To be able to copy files to DVD to make a backup, make sure you have a DVD-R drive in your computer. Computers nowadays usually have a DVD-R drive which is also useful in installing drivers for your computer.

Creating a backup of you files is actually easy. You just make sure you have the necessary tools and devices and you are now ready to go. You can copy files to DVD to make a backup of your important files, your music, your games and your favorite movies and just bring a lightweight DVD if you want to have your files with you.

What you will need to be able to backup your files in DVD is to have your DVD disks ready as well as your software for copying into your DVD. You can get a disk that is rewritable, or those that allow you to erase previous data on it and storing a new one on it. Although you can also store files on CDs, they can only hold fewer capacity of storage than DVDs and that would mean bringing a bulk of CDs if you have large files you want to back up such as games, music, videos and other large files.

However, you have to keep in mind that copying files to DVD especially if you want to copy videos and movies that you need to have a program to help you ‘burn’ those DVDs or in simple terms, copy files into the disk. Sometimes it may take a trial and error to be able to copy a video or movie and make it play smoothly on your DVD player. CD burning may be a little simpler but when it comes to DVD burning, which allows a large capacity of files to be stored, you may need to have other tools and software.

You may also a good program that will convert a file from one file type to another. This allows you to store smaller size files and allow to store tons of multimedia in very few disks.

You may also need this software in converting and shrinking music files, as you may need to copy your songs and music in a file type that can be read on your computer, your laptop or any other medium for playing music without having to have tons and tons of DVDs for them. If you want to bring around a single or a couple disks for all your files, the convenient it is for you to have access to your files.
